At Hollow Spaces, we craft heirloom-quality birdhouses with a mission: to reconnect people with nature—one nest at a time.Built by two lifelong naturalists with deep roots in conservation, our birdhouses are born from a rising need: as bird populations decline and urban sprawl consumes wild space, we saw a clear opportunity to build habitat back into the human landscape. Neither of us can recall seeing a golden oriole in the Dallas–Fort Worth area since the 1990s. That silence speaks volumes.Birds are more than beauty—they're partners in pest control and ecological health. Raptors eat pigeons, owls manage rodent populations, and songbirds protect our gardens from insect damage. Our Approach🦉 Scientifically-Informed Design: We build using designs inspired by the Audubon Birdhouse Book, modified for regional needs and bird safety.🕊️ Natural Materials: We use responsibly harvested, mixed-species lumber—milled in-house—and finish our boxes with breathable, plant-based oils and mineral pigments like iron oxide and ochre.🦇 Built to Age Beautifully: Every house is meant to weather, rot, and return to the earth in time—like any good snag would.🦆 Field-Tested Functionality: Our designs are developed with input from naturalists and tested in real conditions, not just on paper.
